Turning Concert Wristbands Into a Custom Ring Built for Daily Wear

Liz and her fiancé aren’t the type of couple to spend money on big trips or flashy gifts. Hand in hand, the couple has built their relationship on shared experiences, seeing their favorite artists play live in concert venues big and small. Instead of expensive jewelry, Liz has a cherished collection of colorful concert wristbands from their favorite bands, including Joywave, The Ballroom Thieves, Amigo the Devil, The Exploited, and Twenty-One Pilots, to name a few.

With their wedding day approaching, Liz wanted to give her fiancé a custom wedding band that represented the values that brought them together. She came to Honest Hands with the vision for a custom ring with some of the couple’s favorite memories as the centerpiece. Entrusted with a stack of their concert wristbands, we set out to make her dream a reality.

Black titanium was the right call for Liz’s fiancé. He works with his hands, so the ring needed to hold up to daily wear without losing its look. This material is durable, lightweight, and keeps its deep black color over time. What makes it tricky is the finishing process. Once the surface gets scratched, there’s no quick fix.

To get around that, we use a technique we’ve developed in-house that lets us polish the resin inlay cleanly, without touching or damaging the titanium around it. It takes time and precision, but the result is solid, sharp, and built to last.

Liz asked for a flat-shaped band with an offset inlay, and she wanted to use pieces of their actual concert wristbands in the design. We trimmed and layered the paper carefully, sealing it in a clear resin that keeps the texture and color visible while protecting the material underneath. Near the end of the build, a white detail from one of the wristbands settled at the edge of the inlay. It wasn’t part of the plan, but it brought in a nice contrast against the black finish, so we let it stay.

The finished ring speaks for itself. It’s bold without being flashy, built to last, and tied to real moments that mattered. It’s a reminder of the shared experiences that bring excitement, spontaneity, and color to the couple’s lives.

"Thank you for incorporating pieces of some of our best memories into this ring." - Liz

Liz told us she was happy with how it turned out, and we were, too. We’re proud to build these kinds of stories with our hands. We believe that a good ring, like a good relationship, is created from the things that matter most.
